I%26#039;m a student...
who will be doing travel in europe...and wanted to exchange just enought for a taxi from the airport + first few purchases....
i hear bank of american has horrible rates...what do you think?
Where is the best place to exchange foreign currency? Has anyone used associated foreign exchange?mortgage rate
You will find that most American banks give bad exchange rates but for the small amount you will need to exchange in the United States to have cab fare and some pocket money for your first day in Europe the amount is too trivial to worry about.
There are ATMs in most European airports and, if the difference between an effective rate of say 1.23 euros to the dollar and 1.30 dollars to the euro is important to you then you can always use one of them.
Of course, if for any reason the ATM won%26#039;t accept your card or you can%26#039;t find a working one you might find that a bit inconvenient.
You also have to ask yourself whether traipsing around the airport with your bags, jet lagged and yearning to get to your hotel looking for an ATM is worth saving a (very) few bucks.
Does the term %26quot;false economy%26quot; ring a familair note?

loan
always use ATM machines, the money changers are thieves and will screw you every time.|||Exchange it in the country you are in NOT the US!!!
They rip you off soooooo badly. They%26#039;ll say they give you more money for your dollar and yes the do BUT they charge you 2x more than other counties for the exchange so even though you%26#039;re supposidly getting more for your dollar you aren%26#039;t ...|||I believe you should exchange American Dollars in Europe for the best exchange rate.
When I went to italy, i didnt exchange the money until i got there, and i planned to buy what i needed (plus food and that kind of money). I figured out the exact money i was going to need, and since i exchanged it in that country, i ended up having more than enough, i was able to bring home some Italian money for my friends and family.
*EXCHANGE THE MONEY IN EUROPE!!!!!! have a good time though!*
